Equality & EQIA's
Under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, all Housing Associations were required to develop an Equality Scheme. BCHA produced its Scheme and received approval from the Equality Commission in Sep 2005.
The purpose of this scheme is to demonstrate BCHA’s commitment to promoting equality of opportunity among a range of groups. Also, the Association will, in carrying out its functions and duties relating to Northern Ireland, have regard to the desirability of promoting good relations between persons of different religious belief, political opinion or racial group.
BCHA is committed to carrying out its functions as highlighted in the Equality Scheme and recognises the importance of consultation in all aspects of the implementation of its statutory equality duties.
We will continue to assess the impact of our policies on the promotion of equality of opportunity, and where necessary, carry out Equality Impact Assessments. Staff training on equality will remain a top priority of the Association, ensuring staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out this work effectively.
